Green Beans and Carrot Mix

Green Beans with Carrots is a common vegan dish that is mostly served as a side with other main wot types like Misir, Shiro, or Dinich wot but it can also be served by itself.


1 large yellow/red onion sliced
Chopped green onion (Optional)
1 clove of garlic
1/3 cup of cooking oil
1 lbs of green beans
1 lbs carrots (thinly sliced)
1 tsp of salt/more or less as desired
2 peppers/green or sweet/ sliced


  1.  Add the green beans in a warm pan, cover the top and steam it 5-10 minutes, occasionally stirring
  2. Add the thinly sliced carrot in the pan, mix it with the green beans, cook the mic 3-5 minutes occasionally stirring.
  3. Add 1/3 cup of cooking oil in the pan and cover the top, cook it for 10-15 minutes occasionally stirring
  4. Add the sliced yellow/red onion and the chopped garlic, also add the chopped green onion if you have
  5. Add desired amount of salt
  6. Add thinly sliced green/sweet pepper and remove from heat

Cool the cooked mix for a bit and it is ready for serving. You can serve it with Injera (Ethiopian flat bread), or with any other type of bread. It can also be served with rice.
